Commander of Israeli Army’s Northern Region: We Were Surprised by Hezbollah

The Commander of the Israeli Army’s Northern Region announced that Lebanon's Hezbollah still possesses significant operational capability.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Rafi Milo, the Commander of the Israeli Army’s Northern Region, acknowledged that the army was surprised by Hezbollah’s ability to rebuild itself. These remarks were made during a tense meeting with residents of the settlement of Maskaf Am, where he also expressed concern over the continued firing of rockets.

According to Israeli Channel 12, Milo, in response to questions from residents of the settlement who had complained about previous promises regarding the weakening of Hezbollah, said, “There is a gap between the way the 'Northern Shield’ operation ended and what we understood and imagined, and the reality we are now suddenly facing, a reality in which we are still confronted with Hezbollah.”

He added, “Despite the heavy blows that Hezbollah has suffered, its operational capability continues to concern the army. What worries me primarily is the firing of rockets. Even now, most of these rockets are being fired at us, that is, at the Israeli army.”

According to Channel 12, these remarks are consistent with updated Israeli army data, which indicates that despite months of conflict, Hezbollah still possesses approximately 10,000 rockets and hundreds of active launch platforms.

While some at Israel's political level speak of the collapse of Iran’s system, he offered a more cautious assessment, stating, “My assessment is that this war will not lead to the collapse of the system. It appears that this system, despite the challenges it faces, remains stable, and in all likelihood, some kind of agreement will ultimately be needed.”

He emphasized, “This military campaign will not end with a decision that leads to a change of system in Iran; rather, it will ultimately require political arrangements.”
